So say a stock is trading at $101. I'd like to tell thinkorswim to buy $10,000 of that stock. Rather than tell it to buy 99 stock units. Then since it seems thinkorswim can't do fractional shares, it won't actually buy $10,000 worth, it will round to 99*$101 = $9999 worth of stock. That's fine.
