Ok so I love buying from thredup provided you're spending enough for the free shipping and never need to return anything. I also get that their business model must be a nightmare- people buy so much crap clothing and wear it twice that the only way to sell must be focusing on brand name.I sent a bag to them once and never, never again. I could have taken those items to a local secondhand store and got at least $50. thredUP gave me $12. It's hard for me to support them when I know they are gouging people on a lot of items ( see this entire thread) and their cost is literally pennies on the dollar.

Thanks for your original post and for the update. Glad you got some resolution. It's a shame it was so difficult for you, as it would see as if the flood of people asking for refunds and cancellations after the 2nd bedbug post on here may have had a much easier time of it and clearer guidance on what to do (assuming they could even get through to CS via chat).

If ThredUp really had a bed bug problem, we’d have surely seen more boxes with them pop up. I’ve gotten several items since the issue popped up and everything was fine. You should take precautions with anything you buy, used or new, regardless. So I’d still continue washing/drying/freezing or whatever if it gives you peace of mind. Thredup is the last resort for me, as local charity shops are filled to the rafters with things that they have no volunteers to process. It used to be 1.99 now I saw today the return I made it was 2.99 or 3.99. So if you order 10 things and return 5 you could pay 0 for shipping but like $15 in relisting fees. I’d rather try to resell a $10 item than pay $3.99 to return it. But eventually your investors expect to get paid, so you have to raise prices and cut costs (unless you can take enough advantage of economies of scale, which apparently wasn't the case with ThredUp.) It's kind of inevitable unfortunately. If this pattern didn't exist, businesses like ThredUp wouldn't launch in the first place.

I’ve bought and sold on ThredUP and I couldn’t agree more! For me, it’s a lazy way to get rid of clothes. I hope to make a profit but it also relieves me of my guilt knowing they donate what they don’t sell. They’ve taken more than 100 items from me and usually accept almost all of them but my most recent payout was .35 cents. If you do the same I recommend the Gap clean out bags. They process very quickly, and you get an upfront credit to Gap brands (including banana and athleta ). No processing fee. Increased restocking fees, increased return shipping fees, now a processing fee...yikes! 2023 is the year I stop selling on ThredUP.The GA warehouse seems to be the slowest. Avoid it if possible. I don't know how much of that is Fedex and how much is thredup. On their website, it says you should get your stuff in 11 days. My order has been "shipped" but sat in GA for a week without moving, after a long processing period. I don't know if I'm going to make another purchase. 4.ThredUP - The world's largest online thrift store (Easy DD for retards) TL;DR: Online thrift store operating through consigment sales. Thredup is only worth it if you have higher end designer stuff, or do a consignment brand label. Try a local place or selling yourself online. Thredup used to be awesome and it’s not anymore. They’re taking ~7 months to process bags, underpay, and are likely not to accept items without name brand tags. I’m trying to do what I can to make things more reliable. I invested in a dollar store measuring tape to double check measurements, but thredUP doesn’t always have measurements available. They used to give you points for visiting the site daily (redeemable to waive restocking) but no idea how that will work in the new system. Ridiculous Restocking. I used to love ThredUp, but their new restocking policy is insane. First of all, it costs 400 points to waive the fee for 3 articles of clothing, and the prices for restocking shot up. $400 in points is a steep, steep price to pay to save $12. Secondly, they offered me instant credit to keep some articles of clothing, so ...

I find the thredup website infuriating to shop on, but that’s just me! I haven’t heard much about the real real ethically as a company, but I recently saw a job posting for them and it had benefits + a pretty good salary. That’s a good sign! Also the payout seems to be higher than on thredup (50 % commission).

I saw so many videos with free people, anthro and lily lemon. I got a box full of cheap brands, petite sizes and unpopular colors. The box came from Arizonia. All the pricings were set by Thredup the moment they accepted my 3 items. Here's the breakdown they gave me: Cotton On dress. I'm happy to pay Posh a higher percentage for much less returns and hassle. Also a new change they just pulled is the points program is no longer eligible for reclaims.
