I have an Arris SBG6900-AC which I've been using as an all-in-one solution (modem, router, wireless access point). I just bought an Edgerouter X and a new modem, hoping to reduce bufferbloat and ping using the smart queue QoS. I don't mind the mediocre wifi from the Arris, and I didn't want to buy another device for a wireless access point.
